Alabama goes through lighter practice coming off scrimmage

Crimson Tide worked under the lights, in “cooler” conditions

Alabama was expected to have a pretty light practice on Monday to help the players bounce back from the grind of last week.

“We’re trying to get our team sort of healthy,” Nick Saban said after Saturday’s final fall scrimmage.

Conditions for the night practice were cloudy and 83 degrees with a heat index of 89. There were some storms in the area.

Freshman nose tackle DJ Dale (knee) and junior defensive end LaBryan Ray (ankle) were both going through all drills during the observation period.

Redshirt freshman defensive lineman Stephon Wynn (ankle) was in a black jersey and left the field after stretching.

Alabama is still being a little cautious with junior linebacker Terrell Lewis and senior Anfernee Jennings.

Redshirt freshman Jerome Ford (ankle) was absent.

Freshman interior linebacker Christian Harris was getting taped up during the viewing, and then moving a little gingerly. Freshman Shane Lee was working with Dylan Moses in his absence.

Landon Dickerson was next to Jedrick Wills Jr. at right guard for a drill. I didn’t see Emil Ekiyor Jr., but it was an abbreviated viewing.

The team will return to practice on Tuesday afternoon.

Injury rundown

• Redshirt junior cornerback Nigel Knott: The only player yet to practice, he’s out indefinitely with what Nick Saban has only described as a medical issue.

• Senior interior linebacker Josh McMillon: Out indefinitely with a knee injury, could miss entire season.

• Freshman running back Trey Sanders: Out indefinitely with a left foot injury, could miss entire season
