The Alabama football program landed two verbal commitments on Wednesday, one for each of the next two recruiting classes.
Quarterback Drake Maye, a consensus 4-star North Carolina legacy, committed for the Class of 2021.
At 6-foot-4, 200 pounds, Maye is rated the No. 108 overall player in the nation and No. 7 pro-style quarterback per the 247Sports composite rankings. However, 247 rates him higher, as the No. 5 pro-style quarterback and the No. 51 overall player.
His father, Mark, played quarterback for the Tar Heels and his older brother, Luke, basketball.
The Cornelius (N.C.) Myers Park product is just the second Crimson Tide commitment for the Class of 2021, and only quarterback.
Meanwhile, 4-star defensive tackle Timothy Smith told BamaOnLine he's set to join the Class of 2020.
Smith is a former teammate of linebacker Jerez Parks at Sebastian River (Fla.) High School. At 6-foot-4, 340 pounds, the consensus 4-star prospect is the No. 13 defensive tackle and the No. 156 overall player.
