Alabama loses commitment of in-state 3-star player

In-state linebacker De'Rickey Wright tweets that he's had a change of heart

De'Rickey Wright, a 3-star outside linebacker announced his de-commitment from Alabama on Monday.

"First things first I would like to thank my FATHER GOD for BLESSING me with the ability I have today!" Wright tweeted. "I would also like to thank The University of Alabama and Coach Saban for BLESSING me with the opportunity to allow me to play at their school! With that being said I will announce that I am de-committing from Alabama."

Wright, listed as 6-foot-4, 220 pounds, had initially committed in March, but continued to visit other schools. Although he could have arguably ended up at either linebacker or safety, Alabama has added numerous players at both positions for the signing Class of 2020.

The product of Gadsden City High School is rated the No. 26 athlete and the No. 390 overall player in the nation, per the 247Sports composite rankings.

Hate to lose a commit, especially instate. Wish him the best.
