Alabama tops Oklahoma 1-0 in extra innings to force decisive game

Crimson Tide one win away from championship round of Women’s College World Series

Senior Caroline Hardy singled in the winning run in the eighth inning as Alabama defeated top-seeded Oklahoma 1-0 at the Women's College World Series on Sunday afternoon.

The teams will play again Sunday night to complete the double-elimination semifinals.

The winning team advances to face No. 2 UCLA in the best-of-three finals beginning Monday. The loser goes home.

Senior catcher Reagan Dykes started the extra-inning rally with a leadoff base hit, and the pinch-runner was sacrificed over to second by freshman infielder Skylar Wallace.

With two outs, pinch-hitter Hardy delivered with a single to center, with Kloyee Anderson coming around from second base andbeating the throw home.

After throwing a 2-0 shutout against Arizona that went past midnight on Saturday night/Sunday morning, freshman Montana Fouts (21-6) went the distance to get the win.

She allowed four hits with five strikeouts and four walks, while throwing 143 pitches against the Sooners.

Giselle Juarez (28-2) took the loss. She yielded four hits, with eight strikeouts and no walks.
