Did you notice?

• Alabama has installed new LED lights at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Apparently they can do more than just shine brightly down in white.

• Joe Namath hugging Quinnen Williams. There’s just nothing left to say …

Sports Illustrated unveiled its tribute to the 150-year anniversary of college football, which includes lists of everything from the best rivalries to the top places to eat. Want to take a guess at which program was listed as being the best in college football?

• Alabama golfer Wilson Furr will tee off at the U.S. Amateur Championships this morning at Pinehurst Country Club in North Carolina. You may have heard of his caddy, Crimson Tide coach Jay Seawell.

• Alabama came in at No. 5 in USA Today’s annual survey of college athletics revenue. Although the $177.5 million was a school record, it was still well behind No. 1 Texas ($219.4 million) and Texas A&M ($212.4 million). The report also indicated that Alabama allocated $166,533,013 in expenses.

• Even though he’s a rookie, Mack Wilson is learning all of the linebacker positions with the Cleveland Browns:

• Jaguars tackle Cam Robinson was taken off the physically unable to play list and returned to practice.

• Julio Jones says his helmet’s fine:

• Finally, Crimson Tide announcer Chris Stewart, who suffered a stroke in 2018, announced that he was having heart bypass surgery. We wish him and his family the best, and for a speedy recovery.

On this date in Crimson Tide history:

August 13, 1973: Running back Sherman Williams was born in Mobile, Ala.

Crimson Tide quote of the day:

“I thought Tech people drank a better brand of whiskey than this.” –Paul W. “Bear” Bryant after picking up a bottle that had been thrown at him from the Georgia Tech stands.
