• Detroit Tigers starter Spencer Turnbull is back on the injured list for the second time in the past month for an upper back strain. The move is retroactive to July 18.

• Justin Thomas shot 68 in the third round at the British Open and is tied for 19th.

• Christion Jones was active from the injured list for the Saskatchewan Roughriders in time for Saturday’s 38-25 victory against the BC Lions in the CFL.

• The Crimson Tide has two current swimmers and four alumni at the 2019 FINA World Swimming Championships in South Korea. Senior Zane Waddell and sophomore Kalia Antoniou are representing South Africa and Cyprus, respectively, while alumni Kristian Gkolomeev (Greece), Anton McKee (Iceland), Christopher Reid (South Africa) and Abbas Qali (Kuwait) are also competing.
