Arizona starting defensive end Justin Belknap is likely to miss the rest of the regular season because of a broken foot.

David Kelly of TucsonNewsNow.com first reported the news Saturday afternoon, and it was later confirmed by the Arizona Daily Star. The injury happened in practice this week and will require surgery.

Belknap has six tackles this season and has been credited with one quarterback hurry. The redshirt junior made 23 stops last season, including three for loss and 2.5 sacks.

Sophomores JB Brown and Jalen Cochran are next up on the depth chart released by Arizona.

The Wildcats defense has been without starting cornerback Jace Whittaker for the first two games, and safety Scottie Young served a one-game suspension and did not play in last week's loss at Houston. Starting defensive tackle P.J. Johnson also missed that game due to injury, as did Tristan Cooper who started the opener at spur safety.
