Welcome to the Arizona Maven

Maven's technology and community will help us tell UA stories

So, what is this? It's new. But not us.

You probably know me and Steve Rivera -- and Javier Morales will be helping out, too -- because we've been around, covering University of Arizona athletics since ... well, a long time. (Our first bylines came all the way back in the 1980s when Rivera had a mullet, OK?)

Lately, we have all been involved in AllSportsTucson.com, along with Javier's brother Andy, who knows all the nooks and crannies of high school and youth sports in Southern Arizona. That site is going to continue on, with a special focus on uncovering the youth sports stories that too often go uncovered elsewhere. And, yes, there will be still be plenty of Wildcats stuff on those pages, too.

But the AllSportsTucson.com crew didn't want to pass up this opportunity to partner with Maven and its new Sports Network of NFL and college sites. You can read more about that here, and there are many more college sites ready to launch (I would recommend the good stuff happening with Mavens at Alabama, Cal and Oregon for now).

Maven's technology, growing network of nearly 100 million unique visitors per month and robust community will help me and Steve better tell the Arizona Wildcats stories we want to tell.

Here's how you can help:

First, be sure to "follow" the page (the button on the bottom right of the banner) and, secondly, join the conversation. You see this "bubble" right below the top stories on the front page?

Type in there (on the home page) to start a conversation with us and friends and fans, and drop in any link you think is interesting ... you know, just how you would do it on Facebook. Check out what we've got started on the right-hand side of the home page.

This is still all kind of "beta" at the moment, but we wanted to unleash before Arizona's home opener. And if you have any questions and comments, leave them below...
