WACO, Texas -- Stephen F. Austin topped Baylor at the buzzer as senior Shannon Bogues ran the baseline and rolled in a layup for the Lumberjacks’ 59-58 victory on Tuesday night at the Ferrell Center.
The Bears and Lumberjacks tied five times in the first half with the lead changing four times. Baylor pulled ahead, ending the first half with an eight-point lead, 33-25.
Baylor remained in control for most of the second half. The Bears led for 24 minutes overall with forward Tristan Clark scoring a game-high of 24 points.
However, the Lumberjacks (6-4) finished the game on a 12-3 run and edged in front with the closing sequence.
Baylor guard Makai Mason missed a jumper in the last 10 seconds and SFA’s Kevon Harris grabbed the rebound. That opened up Bogues to run the court and make the game-winning shot.
Baylor is 6-4 in nonconference play heading into Friday’s game versus Oregon.
