Many people were writing off the Bengals months ago. A.J. Green has been nursing an injury, and their offensive line was decimated with injuries and retirements.
However, the Bengals pulled off the unlikely. No, they didn't close out the win against Seattle, but they gave fans reason for hope.
The Bengals controlled the momentum for much of the game against the Seahawks. However, they failed to finish and lost a 20-21 heart-breaker.
Not all was bad, though. John Ross was phenomenal in his first action of 2019. Even more impressive was 36-year old Zac Taylor. His ability to call this game was excellent, and he looks very promising.
Under his new offense, Andy Dalton was able to put up single-game career highs in both passing yards (418) and completions (35).
The Bengals may be 0-1 to start the 2019 season, but their performance against Seattle was as good as anyone could have expected. Cincinnati will carry this momentum into next week as they host the 49ers.
