Kuany Kuany, a 6-9 forward at Prolific Prep in Napa, Calif., officially became Mark Fox’s first recruit when he signed his letter of intent, Cal announced Friday.
Kuany verbally committed to Cal on May 9, but the signing officially binds Kuany to Cal as a scholarship athlete.
"We're very excited to add such a great young player who will make an immediate impact," Fox said. "He is a high-character young man whose quickness, shooting and athleticism will be an asset to our program."
He chose Cal after considering offers from Washington State and Nevada
Kuany averaged 10 points and five rebounds in his senior season, according to PrepCircuit.com.
Originally from South Sudan, Kuany also spent time in Melbourne, Australia and Florida before relocating to Prolific Prep.
Cal needs some size, especially after 7-foot-3 freshman Connor Vanover decided to transfer from Cal to Arkansas.
