Cal Basketball: Pac-12 Picks -- Pacific Northwest Rivals Meet for Tourney Crown

Oregon beat Washington on the final day of the regular season, but Huskies have been the steadier squad

It’s the preseason Pac-12 favorite vs. the regular-season Pac-12 champion for the Pac-12 tournament title on Saturday evening at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Oregon will take on Washington for the league’s automatic berth into the NCAA tournament. Washington is a virtual lock for a bid regardless, but the Ducks — even with a seven-game win streak — may still need to win to assure themselves of an invite.

The Ducks were the preseason pick to win the Pac-12 regular-season title in the annual media poll. But the loss of super-freshman Bol Bol changed everything.

Washington, meanwhile, relied on experience and defense to easily win the Pac-12 crown, then faded a bit down the stretch to perhaps open the door a crack for Oregon.

This week: Jeff 10-0, Jake 6-4

Season: Jeff 87-30, Jake 76-41

No. 6 Oregon (22-10, 10-8) vs. No. 1 Washington (26-7, 15-3), 7:30 p.m. (ESPN)

Jake: This will be the Ducks’ fourth game in four days, including an overtime game Friday night, so they will be weary. But they have won seven in a row and beat Washington in Seattle a week ago. Logic says Washington, but I say . . . Pick: Oregon

Jeff: Yep, four games in four days, and the Ducks had to play five extra minutes to beat Arizona State in Friday’s semifinal game. But coach Dana Altman got double-figure minutes out of nine players against ASU so fatigue may not be a decisive factor. The Ducks are starting to have that destiny feel about them. Plus, they beat UW just last Saturday in Seattle. Pick: Oregon
