Spring football practice begins next Monday, and one of the Bears’ most intriguing newcomers is Kuony Deng, a 6-foot-6, 225-pound linebacker from Independence CC in Kansas.
Rated by 247Sports as the top JC linebacker prospect, Deng had 48 tackles, including 5.5 for losses last season.
Coach Justin Wilcox, talking in the video above at a recent sit-down with reporters, said the coaching staff isn’t even sure how it will utilize Deng. Deng was enrolled and on campus in December and had the chance to participate in a few practices as the team did its bowl game prep.
But Deng will be back on the field full-time Monday and the coaches are excited to see what he can do and where he fits.
