Cal Baseball: Andrew Vaughn Breaks Out of Quiet Spell With a Pair of Doubles

White Sox prospect ends three-game hitless stretch by going 2 for 5 for Kannapolis Intimidators

Andrew Vaughn snapped a three-game hitless streak by delivering a pair of doubles for the Kannapolis Intimidators on Friday night.

The former Cal star, drafted No. 3 overall by the Chicago White Sox last month, finished 2 for 5 with a run and an RBI in the Intimidators’ 9-6 loss to the Lakewood Blue Claws in Low-A Sally League play.

Vaughn had gone 0 for 10 the previous three games, dropping his batting average from .351 to .277. He’s now back to .288.

A first baseman from Santa Rosa, Vaughn was a two-time All-American for Cal and won the 2018 Golden Spikes Award as college baseball's best player following his sophomore season.
