The tarp was on the infield of Cal's Evans Diamond on Thursday as rain pelted the field heading into Cal's three-game series against Arizona State that begins Friday night in Berkeley.
Forecasts suggest the Bears and Sun Devils should get Friday's game in, but it looks less promising for Saturday and Sunday. If Friday or Saturday's game is postponed, the teams could play a doubleheader Saturday or Sunday.
Cal head coach Mike Neu notes in the video above that the elements could be a factor in the series.
In any case, the outfield is likely to be wet, which could lead to some interesting defensive plays in this series between two teams tied for fourth place in the Pac-12. Both teams seem to be in good position for a postseason berth, but that could change if one these teams gets wept.
