Cal Swimming Video: Abbey Weitzeil on Her Plans for 2020

Cal junior will continue to take classes and train in Berkeley for what she hopes will be her second Olympics

Abbey Weitzeil was just 19 years old when she competed at the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Having deferred enrollment to Cal by a year to prepare, Weitzeil took home a gold medal in the 400-meter medley relay (where she swam in the prelims) and a silver in the 400 free relay (where she swam in the finals).

Weitzeil also finished seventh in the 100 free and 12th in the 50 free.

Now, coming off an NCAA meet performance where she showed herself to be one of the nation's elite freestyle sprinters, Weitzeil will gradually turn her attention to 2020 and the Tokyo Games. In the video above she talks about how she expects to prepare for a big year.
