Coach Lynn: "That Was a Tough Ball Game"

Coach Lynn Postgame Press Conference vs Broncos

Following the Week 17 victory over the Denver Broncos, Chargers Head Coach Anthony Lynn addresses the media.

On whether he felt today’s game was what they expected

“That was a tough ball game. Our guys hung in there. I thought the defense played outstanding, got some critical turnovers, created some points, good field position. Offensively, I thought we struggled the first half, got into a little bit of a rhythm during the third quarter, early in the fourth quarter. Special teams we were solid. It’s good to come out of here with a win. This is a hard place to play, I don’t think we’ve won here since 2013, so it was a good win for us.”

On achieving a 12-win season

“It was a good way to end the 2018 season, 12-4. I had intentions for us to win them all but I believe the four we lost made us a better football team, especially going into this tournament next week.”

On slow start offensively

“We’ve had some trouble starting the game offensively with the interceptions. We’ve got to make that correction and I believe we will.”

On Phillip Rivers’ interceptions in last two games

“Some of those same throws were explosive plays for us earlier in the year. Now we’re not making those plays, so we have to make better throws, we have to go up and challenge the ball and make plays.”

On CB Desmond King II not playing in first quarter

“That was a coach’s decision.”

On playoff matchup with Ravens

“Baltimore is a good football team. I think they’ve proven that over the last six weeks. We’re somewhat familiar with this team, played them a couple weeks ago, so I look forward to it again.”

On S Jahleel Addae pitching the ball after interception

“That was not a smart move and Jahleel [Addae] is one of the smartest football players. I’m surprised he did that. I don’t think you’ll see that again.”
