The Danish defender has started three Premier League games under Frank Lampard this season, but was dropped in the 2-2 draw to Sheffield United last weekend.
But head coach Frank Lampard has urged on a fresh slate for the 23-year-old after convincing him to change his shirt number.
As per The Athletic, Frank Lampard told Christensen in a mental tactic, which was similarly done to Mason Mount when the pair were together at Derby County last season.
Lampard then told Mount to let go of his no.19 which he wore at Vitesse Arnhem - currently wears at Chelsea - to take the vacant no.8 shirt.
Both are showing signs of promise, particularly Mason Mount who was called up to the England side for their two qualifiers this month.
Unfortunately, the mental tactic is yet to work for the whole side after the Blues have conceded nine goals in their opening four Premier League games, however Andreas Christensen has largely not been at fault
