Jose Mourinho believes pressure has been released for Frank Lampard under transfer ban

Chelsea are halfway through their transfer ban, and former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho believes the circumstances will release the pressure on head coach Frank Lampard.

Jose Mourinho was under huge pressure in his two spells at Chelsea, and was sacked on both occasions, doesn't think Lampard will face the same treatment from the board as he did at Stamford Bridge.

Speaking on Sky Sports' Super Sunday, Jose Mourinho said: "In this moment, with the transfer ban, that releases the pressure.

"They have a very good squad of course. I am very curious to see the direction Frank is going to go.

"Today, does (Olivier) Giroud or Tammy Abraham play? If Tammy Abraham plays and Chelsea doesn't win, people can go in the direction of the younger players, they need time, they are not playing to win the Premier League.

"You don't buy players but you buy time."

Frank Lampard will be hoping to get off to the perfect start as Chelsea manager as his side face Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
