ST. JOSEPH, Mo. -- Tyreek Hill showed no rust on Wednesday in his return after three off days off, connecting with Patrick Mahomes on a couple of deep balls and besting Kendall Fuller for a red-zone touchdown as the Chiefs worked out in damp conditions after an early morning rain.

Hill suffered a quad contusion in a collision with cornerback Bashaud Breeland on July 30. He returned to practice on Friday and Saturday, but the club let him rest Sunday and Monday before a team off day Tuesday.

Mahomes targeted Hill deep right on the fifth play of 11-on-11 work. The ball was under thrown a bit in the soggy conditions, but Hill tracked the ball down for a big gain. The air under the ball allowed cornerback Charvarius Ward to gain ground in preventing a touchdown.

Hill later made a diving catch over the middle with rookie Juan Thornhill draped all over him. He also connected with Mahomes for a touchdown during the third-and-goal period, bowling over Fuller and stepping over him in celebration.

The Chiefs picked up further good news on the injury front with the return of running back Damien Williams (hamstring), linebacker Damien Wilson (knee) and safety Jordan Lucas (hamstring). Damien Williams sat out the first 11-on-11 period, but he joined the first-team offense later in practice, catching a couple of balls from Mahomes.

Defensive ends Frank Clark (wrist), Alex Okafor (hip flexor) and Emmanuel Ogbah (oblique) all sat out practice. Breeland Speaks, Tanoh Kpassagnon and Rob McCray all saw time with the first-team defense in their absence. Clark's injury does not appear to be serious, however, but it may keep him out of Saturday's first preseason game against Cincinnati.

Wide receiver Gehrig Dieter (back) also missed practice Wednesday.
