We Know A Way For San Jose, Standing Behind Air Force, Put Up Time For Utah

Chris Dufresne

Dad & Kid slipped on a 2-4 banana peel last week and continue to drag down the stock price of TMG Inc. This has got to change. Herb Gould continues to lead Pick Six Team TMG with ATS record of 30-21-3. Herb is performing much better of late than the two Big Ten schools from which he holds degrees--Wisconsin and Northwestern. "Touchdown" Tony Barnhart is also performing well at 30-23-1 with Locksmith just over the Mendoza line at 28-25-1. Jersey Guy and Rank/Son have been assigned highway trash pick-up duty as part of TMG's work-release community service program. TMG overall is holding steady at 136-127-7. Wish us all luck.

Father Knows Bets

Boise State (-17) at SAN JOSE STATE

Much-improved San Jose, as road underdogs, has already scored two huge wins this year: at Arkansas and at Army. What it hasn’t done is beat Boise State since 2001 (0-12). But we’re not even asking for a win here, only a cover.

The Pick: San Jose State

Oregon (-4) at USC

If Oregon really is No. 7 in the country it should be able to firebomb a depleted Trojan defense that just allowed 31 points in a tough-win at Colorado. Right?

The pick: Oregon

Kansas State (-5.5) at KANSAS

A classic return-to-Earth game for K-State in the aftermath of last week’s huge win over Oklahoma. First-year mad-hatter Les Miles has made things more interesting for Rock Chalk Jayhawk.

The pick: Kansas

Son’s picks

Oregon at USC (62.5)

Son says this one is easy. Oregon averages 36.1 points per game and USC averages 31.3. Those offenses this week are playing defenses that last week allowed 31 (USC to Colorado) and 35 (Oregon to Washington State). When you add in the wind-chill factor, Fermat’s Last Theorem, the 5 p.m. kickoff and relative humidity at the L.A. Coliseum, it’s going to be a high-scoring game.

The pick: Over

Utah (-3) at WASHINGTON

Son says this is put-up time for the Utes as they play the most important game they’ve ever played as a Pac 12 member. Last week’s 35-0 home shutout of Cal, a team that beat Washington in Seattle, should give Utah the confidence it needs.

The pick: Utah

Army at AIR FORCE (45)

Since the loss to Navy, son notes, Air Force has scored 130 combined points in impressive wins over Fresno, Hawaii and Utah State.

The pick: Over
