Offensive linemen Matt Gono and Jamon Brown played fairly well this preseason, but the Atlanta Falcons will be without them both in Week 1. Gono and Brown were both included on the team's inactive list Sunday morning.
Joining them was running backs Brian Hill and Qadree Ollison. The Falcons have five running backs on the 53-man roster, so at least one of them was not going to be active this week, but two won't play. Atlanta will go with Devonta Freeman, Ito Smith and Kenjon Barner in the backfield against Minnesota.
For the Vikings, cornerback Mike Hughes is not active, which gives Minnesota one less cover man against the Atlanta potent passing offense. Vikings wide receiver Stefon Diggs is active, though, with a questionable tag heading into Sunday's matchup.
However, Minnesota must be fairly certain Diggs will play a significant role because fellow wideout Josh Doctson is not active. The Vikings only have two other receivers, both of which are rookies, active besides Diggs and Adam Thielen.
Stay tuned for all kinds of coverage from Falcon Maven in Week 1.
