UGA Football: Georgia adds WKU to 2026 Schedule

Georgia added Conference USA member, Western Kentucky to it's schedule for the 2026 schedule. The two teams last played in 2006.

Twenty years after beating the Hilltoppers from Western Kentucky 48-12 in 2006, the Bulldogs will face off against the Conference USA member. Western Kentucky joins UCLA and of course Georgia Tech as UGA's out of conference opponents for the 2026 season.

Western Kentucky experienced its most recent success under now Missouri head coach, Jeff Brohm, going 23-5 from 2015-2016. They are on their second coach in three seasons as they will start the Tyson Helton campaign this fall.

Helton

Yes, in case you were wondering Tyson Helton is related to USC head coach Clay Helton. Tyson is the youngest of the Helton clan. Tyson Helton spent last season as the Tennessee offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. This will be his head coaching job at any level.

It's hard to say what the status of both these programs will be five seasons from now, but ideally, UGA is still in the perennial hunt for a college football playoff spot. As for the Hilltoppers of Western Kentucky, I guess we will have to wait and see.

He seems to be comfortable leading a room of young adults, though:

not as bad as scheduling a team like Austin Peay. I’ll take it.
