Coming off a 91-loss season and a 20-game regression, the largest in franchise history, the Rockies have plenty of concerns.
Unwanted losses in free agency are not among them.
Only two Rockies players are currently eligible for free agency: first baseman Yonder Alonso and catcher Drew Butera. The Rockies are expected to part ways with Alonso and attempt to keep Butera by signing him again to a minor league deal that wouldn’t tie up a spot on the 40-man roster.
It’s very possible pitchers Chad Bettis and Tyler Anderson could become free agents if they are not reinstated from the 60-day injured list to the 40-man roster within five days after the conclusion of the World Series.
