The Rockies suffered their 47th home postponement on Wednesday night, their third of the year. The Rockies will make up the game with the Giants as part of a day/night doubleheader when the Giants return to Coors Field on July 15. Earlier this season, the Rockies game against the Braves was postponed. It was the final game of the series, and the Braves were not scheduled to make a second trip to Denver. They, however, will be stopping by for a makeup on Aug. 26.
The Rockies did not have a home postponement a year ago, the sixth time in franchise history that the Rockies did not have to make up a game because of weather problems.
Surprised about inclement weather in May? Don't be. April (21) is the month in which the Rockies have had the most home games postponed followed by May (12), and June (4). There have been three games each postponed in July, August and September. And the Rockies did have one game postponed in October -- an Oct. 10, 2009 NL Division Series game against the Phillies.
