Farm Report: Kauffmann Assigned to Full-Season A Tourists for Pro Baseball Debut

Karl Kauffmann, the right-handed ace of a Michigan team that advanced to the title game in the College World Series, has been assigned to the full-seson Class A Ashevile roster. Kauffman, the 77th player selected overall in the June draft, was the Rockies competitive balance draft between the second and third rounds, the highest drafted pitcher in the team's draft.

And the belief in Kauffmann is underscored by the fact he becomes the first of the 31 players the Rockies signed out of this draft who has been assigned above the short-season level.

Kauffmann has not been activated yet, but then he was the last of the Rockies draft choices to sign because of his involvement in the College World Series.
