Game Report: Rockies Farm Teams Go 0-for-4 on Opening Night

It was a struggle on Opening Night for the Rockies farm teams.

All four full-season clubs opened their season on Thursday night.

All four lost, including three of them to affiliates of the Giants.

AAA Albuquerque (0-1) lost 11-4 to Sacramento (Giants affiliate) at Albuquerque. Jeff Hoffman (0-1, 9.82) started and allowed four runs on six hits and four walks, striking out three, in 3 2/3 innings. Reigning PCL MVP Josh Fuentes returned to the Isotopes, and went 2-for-3 with a double, home run, walk and two RBI. Roberto Ramos debuted at the Triple-A level with a two-run home run.

AA Hartford (0-1) lost 1-0 at Richmond (Giants affiliate). Jack Wynkoop (0-1, 1.80) allowed one run and that came on a double-play ground ball in the fifth. Hartford had runners on base in each of the first six innings, including loading the bases in the first. The Yard Goats’ offense was limited to five singles.

High A Lancaster (0-1) lost 7-4 to Modesto (Mariners affiliate). Austin Bernard and Luis Castro both homered in the third inning for the Jethawks. Casey Golden had an RBI-single in the first. Will Gaddis (2.25) started and allowed one run on four hits and three walks, striking out five, in four innings. Cade Harris (0-1, 15.00) relieved Gaddis to start the fifth, and gave up five runs in three innngs.

Low A Asheville (0-1) lost 9-5 to Augusta (Giants affiliate). Augusta scored five runs in the second inning off Ryan Feltner (13.50) in 2 2/3 innings. Will Golsan (.667) was 2-for-3 with two runs scored, a double and RBI out of the No. 9 spot in the lineup. Terrin Vavra (.400) was 2-for-5 and Coco Montes (.500) was 2-for-4.
