Charlie Blackmon, out since May 24 with a strained right calf muscle, is getting closer to his return to the Rockies starting lineup. Blackmon begins a rehab assignment with AAA Albuquerque Wednesday night in Omaha, according to Isotopes play-by-play announcer Josh Souchon.

Between the injury and an occassional day off, Blackmon still leads the Rockies with 53 runs scored, and ranks third with 31 RBI, 10 home runs and a .300 average.

With Blackmon on the injured list, the Rockies have gone with a primary defensive alignment with David Dahl moving from left field to right field, Raimel Tapia getting the bulk of the time in left field, and Ian Desmond in center field.
