Zack Greinke is a challenge for the Rockies. His 12 wins represent the third highest total against the Rockies of any active pitcher, trailing only Madison Bumgarner (15) and Clayton Kershaw (15). And he is not intimidated by Coors Field. Greinke is 5-1 in 11 career starts at Coors Field, his team winning eight of the 11 games.
Jon Gray has made progress this year, not allowing innings to get out of hand. He is 2-2 in his last four starts against the D-backs. Greinke, meanwhile, is 3-1 in his last five starts against the Rockies.
Gray catches a break. He has a particular challenge with David Peralta, who is on the injured list. Peralta not only has more at-bats against Gray (20) than any other D-back players, but he is hitting .500 lifetime against Gray.
Daniel Murphy is the one Rockies player who has had success against Greinke, compiling a career .381 batting average. Early in his career, Trevor Story was a headache for Greinke, but after going 8-for-21 at the start of his career against the righthander, Story is 4-for-19 in his last seven starts against Greinke.
