On Deck: Reds at Rockies, Friday (6:40 pm), Saturday (6:10 pm), Sunday (1:10 pm)

Sponsored by Foley's -- A Baseball Haven in the Middle of Manhattan

A return to Coors Field for Reds manager David Bell, whose father Buddy is a former manager of the Rockies. Both teams have been scuffling. The Rockies lost their last six games before the All-Star Break, and slipped into seventh place in the Wild Card race. The Reds have split their last 10 games. They are 17-25 on the road.

The Rockies don't have a lot of familiarity with the three Reds scheduled starters, including veteran Sonny Gray, who spent the bulk of his career in the American League with the A's and Yankees. He will be making his first career start against the Rockies. Tanner Roark, the scheduled Saturday starter, has made three starts against the Rockies when he was with the Nationals. Tyler Mahle will be starting against the Rockies for the second time.

The Rockies will return Kyle Freeland to the big-league roster for Saturday's start, looking for a recharged lefthander after his six-start stint at Triple-A Albuquerque.

The Rockies won four of six from the Reds a year ago, taking two of three both at home and on the road.
