On Deck: Rockies Host Padres in 3-game Weekend Visit to Coors Field

The Rockies open a three-game series with the Padres at Coors Field on Friday. The Rockies swept two games in San Diego April 15-16. The Rockies are in fourth place in the NL West, 6 1/2 games out of first, and 3 1/2 games behind the third-place Padres.

Jon Gray was pushed back two days to keep Kyle Freeland and German Marquez on regular rest, and also because the Padres are dominated by right-handed hitters. Gray is 9-3 lifetime against the Padres.

The Rockies have four players on the Injured List, including left-handed relievers Jake McGee and Chris Rusin, both of whom are on rehab assignments with AAA Albuquerque. The Padres, meanwhile, have 12 players on the injured list, including seven on the 60-day injured list.

The Rockies are 2-3 on their current homestand, including having Wednesday's game against the Giants postponed. The Padres are coming off 3-3 homestand, winning two of three from the Mets after losing two of three to the Dodgers.

The Rockies did sweep the two-game series in San Diego last month, and won the last two season series with the Padres.
