The Pirates rotation is a mess because of serious injuries, which has manager Clint Hurdle going to a bullpen game. For the second time in the last week Montana DeRapau will start for the Pirates but it won't be a long effort. He pitched two innings last weekend in his start at San Diego. Gray is looking to get back on track after his lost at Philadelphia last weekend. He is 3-1 in his last six starts, but is 0-1 in his career against the Pirates.

Gray is 3-2 in his last seven starts, incljuding a loss at Philadlephia last Friday when he allowed five runs on five hits and three walks in 4 2/3 innings. DeRapa is not actually a starter, but Pirates will use him in beief appearance as one of the newest MLB creative approaches to starting pitchers.
