Gerrit Cole has fit comfortably into the Houston scenario. He started the season slow, but he has won his last nine decisions over a 13-game stretch in which the Astros are 11-2. Lambert won his first two big-league starts, both against the Cubs. He, however, is 0-2 in his eight starts since, including a loss to the Astros.
Lambert only gave up four hits in that start against the Astros, but two of the hits were home runs -- by Alex Bregman and Yuli Gurriel. Gurriel was 2-for-2 against Lambert. Not a big surprise, but Cole has been challenged by Nolan Arenado. Arenado is 8-for-17 (.471) against Cole with a double and two home runs. Daniel Murphy and Tony Wolters have both hit .333 against the Astros right-hander.
