Sam Darnold's interceptions & nine other takeaways from Jets' loss to Dolphins

The Jets have lost five of their last six to the Dolphins after Sunday's 13-6 loss in Miami

--Rookie quarterback Sam Darnold leads the league with 14 interceptions. No other player has more than 10 (Denver's Case Keenum is one of them, and as I write this, the Broncos are in the third quarter against the Texans and he hasn't thrown a pick today).

The 21-year-old has made 33 starts between USC and the Jets, and he's turned the ball over at least once in 26 of them. He has multiple interceptions in four of nine games this season. They weren't all his fault, but still, that's too many.

--Not like they have any shot at the postseason at this point, but should the Patriots beat the Packers tonight, the Jets will be four games back in the AFC East. They play at home against the Bills (2-7) next Sunday, and will probably actually be favored. Miami is 5-4.

--In the last four games, Isaiah Crowell has rushed for 143 yards and no touchdowns on 50 carries (2.86 per carry) with no touchdowns. In the game prior to that stretch (a 34-16 win over the Broncos), he rushed for a franchise-record 219 yards on 15 carries (14.6 per carry). He had five touchdowns in the first five weeks of the season, and none since.

--Rookie tight end Chris Herndon's streak of three straight games with a touchdown came to an end, but he still led the Jets with four catches for 62 yards.

--After Quincy Enunwa led the Jets in receiving yards the first four games of the season, five different players have led them in the category the last five weeks (Robby Anderson, Jermaine Kearse, Trenton Cannon, Deontay Burnett and now Herndon). Cannon had one catch Sunday, and Burnett was targeted twice but didn't make a grab.

--The Jets hit Dolphins quarterback Brock Osweiler seven times, including four sacks. OLB Jeremiah Attaochu hit him three times, including his second sack of the season.

--The Jets' defense failed to record a turnover for the third straight week after getting 15 in the first six games. They gave only 10 takeaways since intercepting Matthew Stafford in Week 1.

--Kicker Jason Myers missed only his second field goal of the season (he pushed a 50-yarder way wide to the right). Myers was 10-for-19 from 50-plus yards in three seasons with the Jaguars, but he was 2-for-2 from that length with the Jets before Sunday.

--Todd Bowles is now 23-34 (.404) in four seasons with the Jets and 7-13 against AFC East opponents. He now has the worst record of any Jets head coach to be with the team more than two seasons. Bruce Coslet was 26-38 (.406) from 1990-93. The Jets have also lost 12 of their last 14 road games.

--Darnold knows Dolphins rookie LB Jerome Baker, who had the game's only touchdown Sunday (a pick-six) very well. Baker, Miami's third-round pick out of Ohio State, recovered one of Darnold's two fumbles in the 2017 Cotton Bowl, a 24-7 Buckeyes victory.
