Myself, along with Steve Deace and Michael Spath, have put together our top six teams in college football after week two and there are a few changes to each of our lists. After a couple of marquee matchups in week two, the lists have shifted just a bit heading into week three.
So much for Clemson and Alabama remaining No. 1 and No. 2 until they lose. Deace gave a different set of Tigers the top spot after picking up a huge win in Austin over the Texas Longhorns. He has a point in saying that LSU's win is the biggest of the young college football season, but should they really be ranked ahead of Clemson and Alabama?
One thing is certain, the Bayou Bengals have found a quarterback in Ohio State transfer Joe Burrow and that offense are humming with premiere athletes running around all over the field. Burrow went 31 of 39 for 471 yards and four touchdowns against just one interception. He looked poised and very sharp against some very talented Longhorn athletes in their house and headed back to Baton Rouge with a 45-38 win. LSU is definitely a team to watch moving forward.
Oklahoma and Georgia both had snoozers against FCS opponents while Auburn handled Tulane 24-6. Ohio State remains in the top six for both Michael and I after shellacking Cincinnati, 42-0. Georgia transfer Justin Fields is looking scarier and scarier with each passing week. Through two games, Fields has accounted for 561 total yards and nine touchdowns. He also has not turned the ball over.
