20 OH 4* LB Jaheim "SHARK" Thomas Talks Michigan State Football in his Final 7!

After piling up over 30 offers throughout his recruitment, with several more likely on the way, Cincinnati (OH) Princeton 2020 4-star outside linebacker announced his top seven schools earlier this month and Michigan State made the cut for the 6-foot-3½, 218-pound standout.

Thomas recently spoke with Spartan Nation about his announcement and said that when it comes to the Spartans, he likes what he sees from head coach Mark Dantonio and defensive coordinator Mike Tressel and added that after a visit for a game last fall, he came away impressed with the atmosphere in East Lansing.

“I like what coach Dantonio is doing with the players there,” he said. “Coach Tressel, he has a lot of energy, every time I go up there, he just brings a lot of energy and I like how they’ve produced linebackers that go to the draft. I’ve been to a game up there and I loved the atmosphere.”

Along with Michigan State, Thomas included Tennessee, Maryland, Cincinnati, Louisville, LSU and Kentucky in his top seven.

Among Thomas’ other 25 offers are Michigan, Ohio State, Wisconsin, Alabama, Colorado, Duke, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Iowa, Iowa State, Minnesota, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, Purdue, Rutgers, Vanderbilt, West and Virginia.

When it comes to his offer from LSU, it was an offer that he had long been waiting for and called it a dream school of his since he was a child and also added that he’s already taken an official visit to Baton Rouge and enjoyed his time on campus.

“That’s been my dream school ever since I was a kid growing up, I always used to watch them,” he said. “When I found out that they offered me an opportunity to play there, it was big. I already took an official visit down there and I enjoyed it. I love it down there.”

Another offer that has stood out to Thomas throughout the recruiting process is Kentucky, another school he’s already visited and said he’s impressed with the Wildcats’ track record of developing players.

“I just like the atmosphere up there,” he said. “I like how they develop guy’s talent and I like the outside linebackers coach, I like what he does with the linebackers and what he produces.”

As Thomas prepares for his final season at the high school level, he said that he feels his versatility and ability to drop into coverage and rush the passer are the strengths of his game.

“Right now I feel like how I’m mobile and hybrid I am to be able to drop into coverage,” he said. “And be able to come off the edge and get to the quarterback and be able to play in the middle too.”

With his recruiting process likely slowing down after his top seven announcement, Thomas told Spartan Nation that he isn’t in any rush to make a final decision and doesn’t anticipate making an announcement until the middle of his senior season at the earliest.
