21 WI DE HAYDEN NELSON TALKS MICHIGAN STATE SPARTAN FOOTBALL RECRUITING!
Spartan Nation caught up with Hayden Nelson, a 6’4” 285# young man from Brookfield High School in Brookfield, WI. Just finishing his sophomore year in high school, headed for his junior year, and his recruiting has taken off.
It is rare to find a rising player with super-star potential and no ego. That would describle this youngster and why the pride of Brookfield has the eye of the Big Ten!
He already has offers from Central Michigan University, Kent State, and Western Michigan University. Iowa and Michigan State have their eyes on him now also.
Nelson has already made a visit to East Lansing.
“I thought it was really cool. We got to see the facilities, got to see the practice with high intensity. Good time.”
Not only was he invited for a visit, but he has also camped there.
“Camp was a lot of good dudes. I got the chance to talk to Kenny, I worked with him as a player so that was pretty cool.”
Nelson was excited to be able to meet and work with Kenny. He sees a little of Kenny in himself.
“I do. When I put on the tape that is who I strive to play like and I think I do play similar, so that is pretty cool.”
After the visit and camp, an offer from MSU would mean a lot to Nelson.
“It would mean a lot. Michigan State is a place with a great tradition, great football, great academics. It’s definitely a school that is high on my list, so it would mean a lot.”
Nelson, being from Wisconsin, can’t help but think about the Badgers.
“Yeah, I definitely like the Badgers, they have some great facilities, you know growing up I did watch the Badgers, so they’re a good team.”
Nelson realizes how important this summer is to his recruiting.
“Definitely just working on the fundamentals, getting my stance down, getting my get offs down, working with the team, staying in shape. I think for sure just getting down the pass rush moves, getting rips down, getting spin moves down, just kind of adding some moves there.”
As he prepares this summer, he realizes that although he has offers and is being watched by a couple of other schools going into next season, his junior season, will be big.
“Definitely the most important games of my life, that is kind of what every single school is saying, watching the first three games, the first four games, and then we’ll make a decision probably around there.”
Keep this young man on your radar, he is turning heads and will be turning more come August and September.
