With the departure of Dave Rayner, #5 Michigan State has hired former Virginia Tech Hokie ICON and 15 year NFL veteran kicker Shayne Graham as their next special teams' intern. If his NFL success means anything, the Spartan hired a good one.
Graham was a critical part of the Central Michigan Staff. One member of that staff said of Graham and his impact in Mt. Pleasant, “He was the reason for any special teams’ success we had. He won’t be an intern for long. Dantonio got a real gem of a person and player.”
Graham said via his INSTAGRAM about moving to East Lansing, “Very excited to begin my next journey in my coaching career at Michigan State University. I’m very grateful for the opportunity I had at Central Michigan University over the past year. It was hard to say goodbye for now. But I leave with amazing memories that I will cherish forever. I will always be a fan of Coach John Bonamego and the rest of the #fireup family. Looking forward to the hard work and preparation for the 2018 season. #gogreen”
Graham IS NOT an on-field coach, but outside of the 3 ½ hour game, he will be a critical part of the staff.
