Quarterback Baker Mayfield would love to help the Cleveland Browns win a ring in the future.
On Saturday, Mayfield gave one away as he proposed marriage to his girlfriend Emily Wilkinson.
For the record, she said yes. Well, sort of.
“What is that?” Mayfield asks while posting video of the ring in his Instagram story, via the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
“You did good,” Wilkinson said, clearly with her eyes on the rock.
“Did you say yes?” the 23-year-old Mayfield asked again.
“Yeah, I think I did, right? she responded, laughing.
Mayfield posted another photo of himself on bended knee with ring box in hand as he proposed to Wilkinson.
The caption reads, “Can’t wait to do life with the most perfect girl, Emily Wilkinson, I love you.”
The engagement is another high point in recent months for Mayfield, who won the Heisman Trophy before being selected by the Browns with the top overall pick of the 2018 NFL Draft.
Mayfield has approximately three weeks to spend with his now fiancee before starting training camp, which opens to the public on July 26. He enters camp as the No. 2 quarterback behind Tyrod Taylor.
Mayfield passed for 4,627 yards and accounted for 48 touchdowns with just six interceptions while leading Oklahoma to the College Football Playoff last season.
Taylor played in 15 games for the Bills and completed 62.6 percent of his passes for 2,799 yards and 14 touchdowns with four interceptions last season.
The 28-year-old Taylor guided Buffalo to the postseason for the first time since 1999 last season before being sent to Cleveland. Now, he’s aiming to have the Browns reach the playoffs for the first time since 2002.
Wilkinson is a Nebraska native and former resident of Los Angeles. She announced last month that she was quitting her job in Los Angeles.
