2019 #12 Green Bay Packers – Rashan Gary, DL, Michigan
NFL Draft Scout
OUTLOOK: Through the hype he earned after dominating at the prep level in New Jersey and signing with Jim Harbaugh's Michigan Wolverines as one of the more highly touted recruits in the country to the fact that he has already created his own sports agency - representing himself and at least one other NFL hopeful - few prospects enter the 2019 NFL draft more recognized than Gary, a projected top 10 pick. Gary immediately lived up to his hype once donning the maize and blue, playing in all 13 games and registering 27 tackles, including five for loss and half a sack for a squad that would see a school-record 11 players get drafted into the NFL that spring. He enjoyed his finest college season as a sophomore in 2017, earning First Team All-Big Ten honors from league coaches with 66 tackles, including 12 for loss and six sacks. Constant attention from opponents and a nagging shoulder injury limited Gary to a total of nine games in 2018 and his production slipped (38-6.5-3.5). After a humbling loss to rival Ohio State, Gary opted to skip Michigan's Peach Bowl matchup with Florida and instead begin preparation for the 2019 NFL draft. Rather than sign with an established agent like virtually every other prospect, the two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree created his own firm - Rashan Gary Sports - as part of his plan to "change the game" in the hopes of providing for himself and his family even after his playing career is over. At minimum, Gary should be a longtime starter with intriguing positional and schematic versatility with the upside to develop into a true difference-maker that NFL opponents will have to game plan against on a weekly basis.
