New league to hold combines

--- ---

The Alliance of American Football, which is set to begin its inaugural season in February 2019, announced it will hold three combines in August to look for players.

The combines will be held in Los Angeles, Houston and Atlanta, giving players not in the NFL an opportunity to go through measurements and a variety of tests for scouts.

The league announced it will play mostly Saturday games and start a week after the Super Bowl.

The eight AAF teams have already named their head coaches: Brad Childress (Atlanta), Tim Lewis (Birmingham), Mike Singletary (Memphis), Steve Spurrier (Orlando), Rick Neuheisel (Phoenix), Dennis Erickson (Salt Lake City) Mike Riley (San Antonio) and Mike Martz (San Diego).
