Texas A&M linebacker Santino Marchiol is no longer on the team, according to a report.
Marchiol, who redshirted as a freshman last year, is not listed on the team’s most current roster. Gigem 247 reported recently that Marchiol left the program.
Marchiol was a four-star recruit out of IMG Academy in Florida, according to Rivals.com. He committed to Texas A&M after reportedly receiving other offers including Auburn, LSU, Miami, Ohio State and Tennessee.
The freshman was injured during spring practice after enrolling early in 2017 and redshirted the season.
He was expected to compete for a role under coach Jimbo Fisher, who replaced Kevin Sumlin last December.
It is not known why Marchiol left the program. If he transfers to another FBS school, NCAA rules state that he has to sit out a season. If he opts to transfer to an FCS school, he could play this season.
