Tennessee dismissed defensive lineman Ryan Thaxton from the team following his arrest on charges of false imprisonment and domestic assault, multiple media outlets reported on Monday.
Per online records, Thaxton was arrested on July 15 after pushing his girlfriend toward his room when she refused to accompany him to his dorm. The 6-foot-5, 245-pound sophomore then carried her inside the dorm room and blocked the door when she attempted to leave, according to records.
Thaxton, who was ultimately released on $1,500 bond, was suspended by the team the following day.
The 19-year-old Virginia native did not play last season for Tennessee, which opens its season against West Virginia on Sept. 1.
