Dirion Hutchins and Armani Posey dismissed for illegal use of school credit/debit cards

Two Bowling Green players were dismissed from the team after an investigation found they illegally used credit/debit cards belonging to the school, the Blade reported Friday.

Redshirt sophomore linebackers Dirion Hutchins and Armani Posey are no longer on the team, Bowling Green officials told the Toledo, Ohio-based newspaper.

Hutchins was charged Friday with telecommunications fraud, theft and prohibited acts -- all felonies.

Posey was charged June 26 with receiving stolen property and unauthorized use of property. He was found guilty of the misdemeanor July 9 and given a 180-day suspended jail term. He was placed on probation, contingent on having no criminal offenses for the next two years, paying $2,000 in restitution to the school's athletics department, and paying a $500 fine.

According to court documents, Hutchins is accused of using money from the cards to make 27 deposits totaling $9,066. Posey is accused of using credit card information from Hutchins, who was his roommate, and using it to buy food.

The Blade reported that Bowling Green coach Mike Jinks would not comment, via athletics spokesman Jason Knavel. University officials also did not comment, other than saying university police are still investigating.

Last season, Hutchins had 19 tackles in 12 games. Posey had 52 stops in nine games (five starts). He also forced two fumbles and broke up one pass.
