Here's are the answers to this week's mailbag.
I'd like to have more updates on this X-man, on Oshane Ximines; initially I understood Gettleman and Shurmur thought they got a steal out of this player. Then the comparison to Osi Umenyiora began, but now that conversation is fading. I understand that Lorenzo Carter is expected to take his game to another level but he's the only drafted edge rusher/ OLB and that group position is still a question mark and one I'd like to be talked more about its development.
I am also very interested in seeing how Oshane Ximines develops over the summer, especially once the pads go on. The reason why you probably didn't hear a lot about the X-man is because the media had a poor view of everything that was going on (that's also why you probably didn't see a lot of tweets during the practices).
The Giants have us stand on their patio and often the action is going away from us at the far end of the field. To make matters worse, the players line up to block our view so unless one has X-ray vision AND binoculars, it's impossible to see through the bodies.
I think come training camp you'll hear a lot more about X-man and other players. I know I'll be watching and will try to include him in my reports.
There were many reports about the competitiveness of the two side of the ball. Is this because the talent is mediocre to poor on each side, or should we have optimism there’s winning talent on this roster?
I tend to be a glass-half-full type of person by nature, but to be honest, I think there's a noticeable upgrade in talent on both sides of the ball.
Now bear in mind all this optimisms is a result of seeing them work in shorts and shells, and at half speed, but I definitely think this is going to be a competitive camp.
