The New York Giants have waived/injured linebacker Thurston Armbrister.
The 6-3, 235-pound Armbrister has missed at least two weeks of practice and has been unable to contribute in either of the Giants preseason games due to a hamstring injury. Armbrister was signed to a reserve/futures contract on January 9, 2018.
With the picture at backup linebacker taking shape and the Giants needing depth at running back, New York replaced Armbrister with running back Jhurell Pressley.
Pressley was originally signed by the Vikings as an undrafted free agent in 2016 out of New Mexico where in four seasons, e recorded 2,2725 yards on 394 carries and 35 rushing touchdowns. He also added 18 receptions for 220 yards and a touchdown to his career totals.
In addition to the Vikings, Pressley has made stops with the Vikings, Packers, Falcons and Jaguars since coming into the league.
The Giants are short this week on running backs thanks to injuries to Saquon Barkley (hamstring) and Jalen Simmons (concussion), neither of whom is expected to play Friday night when the Giants meet the New York Jets in their annual summer clash.
