The Giants need to get off to a fast start starting Sunday against the Cowboys. https://www.newsday.com/sports/football/giants/giants-cowboys-eli-manning-daniel-jones-pat-shurmur-1.35983452
Preseason players talked about being a top 5 squad, I said be quiet and play the game, we'll see. Giants defense looks like kids playing against men ie Hamilton getting thrown to ground on attempted tackle. Just another frustrating yr. Injuries will now come about as brass try to spin optimism to fans. Another 5 win season.
They do, indeed, need to get off to a fast start. But Dallas is likely far too good at home for that to occur. I want to share a fear, based on a report I had this morning in the Daily News. It mentioned how excited our number one draft pick was to finally get to play in AT&T stadium. He was banned from Clemson's game against Notre Dame ( in that locale ) last year, due to an illegal, performance enhancing drug found in his system. He was similarly banned from the national championship game. He denied it, but the science was apparently clear on this point. In pre-season, there has been little seen from this player. He rarely made the stat sheets. The rhetoric abounded as to why his numbers were unimpressive ( breaking him in slowly, adjustment to the NFL, learning new position and defense, etc ). Could it be that without the performance enhancing boost, he is just not that good? Did Gettleman roll the dice on a guy who came with " baggage" and question marks? If Dexter isn't great, our defense will be mediocre as well. and that means another long, long season. Do you have any insights on this report and what it might suggest?
