Too soon or not?

Only two games into the season, Justin Fields' name is cropping up in Heisman conversation

There's a long way to go.

OK, so now that all obligatory bases are covered, why not contemplate whether Justin Fields can become the eighth Ohio State winner and only the second Buckeye quarterback to win the Heisman Trophy?

Fields has the numbers, with nine touchdowns through two games, including four on the ground and five through the air.

He completed 20-of-25 attempts for 224 yards and two scores in a 42-0 win over Cincinnati on Saturday, while rushing for a pair of touchdowns.

That followed Fields' debut against Florida Atlantic in which he ran for one TD and threw for four others.

He's yet to commit a turnover entering a noon Saturday game at Indiana.

Fields' predecessor, Dwyane Haskins, threw for 50 TDs last season and finished third in the Heisman voting.

If Fields stays on his current pace, he'd finish the season with just shy of 3,000 passing yards, 39 touchdown passes and 670 rushing yards and 20 rushing touchdowns.
