It was quite the week for Oregon’s Sabrina Ionescu.
She returned to the Bay Area, where she grew up in nearby Walnut Creek, and got the opportunity to play in front of her family, friends and old coaches and teammates.
Ionescu led No. 3 Oregon to wins over Cal and No. 11 Stanford, the latter of which was a 40-point victory in a statement game heard around the nation.
After averaging 27 points, seven rebounds and six assists in the Ducks’ 2-0 week, Ionescu was named the Pac-12’s player of the week. It was the second time she’s received the honor this season, eighth in her career.
Ionescu was unstoppable offensively, shooting 62.9-percent (22-of-35) from the field and 75-percent (6-of-8) from three-point territory.
The Ducks have the week off before facing a home-and-home series with No. 9 Oregon State, beginning Friday night at 6:30 p.m. in Matthew Knight Arena.
