The Ducks will kick off their first road game of the season in a "Pac-12 After Dark" special, Oregon announced Monday morning.
No. 20 Oregon will travel to the Bay Area for a 7:35 p.m. kickoff against the Golden Bears, almost assuring some fireworks during the game.
The last two meetings between these teams were nothing short of spectacular, for good and bad reasons.
Last year, Oregon's star quarterback Justin Herbert was hurt when rushing the ball near the endzone. Although he would score on the play, most Duck fans will remember that's where Oregon's season went off the rails. The Ducks went 1-4 over the next five games as Herbert watched from the sideline, suffering an upper body injury during the Cal game.
The year before that, Herbert tied a school-record by throwing for six touchdowns in a thrilling 52-49 double-overtime defeat. That game was where Duck fans started to believe that they had someone special at quarterback.
The game could be a potential "trap" game for Oregon as the Ducks face No. 7 Stanford this week and then No. 10 Washington the week following the matchup with Cal. Meanwhile, the Golden Bears have a bye this week before opening up their portion of the Pac-12 schedule against Oregon.
